Greyhound

As the owner of a racing greyhound in Queensland, you are responsible for the welfare of your animal for the duration of its lifecycle, including at the time of retirement.

You can learn more about your responsibilities toward greyhound welfare from birth to retirement by reading the information on the following pages.

If ownership of the greyhound is transferred to another licensee, they then adopt that responsibility. Retirement must be notified by the last registered owner of the greyhound by completing the notification of a retired registered greyhound form (PDF, 53kb) and sending it to the Licensing and Registration department as specified in the GA Rule 106(3).

If you wish to place your dog on the Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP QLD), you must complete and submit the GAP submission form (PDF, 434kb) to before your greyhound is eligible to be issued an intake date to the program.

Visit the Greyhound Adoption Program QLD website for more information.
