Unlicensed trackwork riders identified in QRIC operations

The Queensland Racing Integrity Commission Integrity Investigations Team (IIT) has stood down two racing participants and identified unlicensed trackwork riders in Toowoomba and Oakey after a human sampling operation in the region.
A Toowoomba Trainer was fined $400 after two trackwork riders were found to be unlicensed.
As part of the Toowoomba operation 41 riders were drug tested with one Trainer stood down pending the results of confirmatory analysis after a preliminary positive screen to a prohibited substance and making admissions to using the substance.
At Oakey a trackwork rider was also stood down pending the results of confirmatory analysis after returning a preliminary positive screen to a prohibited substance and making admissions to the use of the substance.
A trackwork rider and a stable hand were found to be unlicensed and a trainer was fined $400 for the breach of the rules.
Both preliminary positive screen samples will be sent to a laboratory for confirmatory testing.
