QRIC seizes unlabelled medications from a Deagon stable
The Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) Integrity Investigations Team (IIT) has seized a number of allegedly unlabelled medications from a Deagon thoroughbred stable following a no notice inspection yesterday.
The alleged S4 medications which under the rules of racing must be prescribed by a veterinarian, have been sent to analytical services for analysis.
Racing Integrity Commissioner Ross Barnett said the rules state that participants must not have in their possession or on their premises any medication, substance or preparation which has not been registered, labelled, prescribed, dispensed or obtained in accordance with applicable Commonwealth and State legislation.
“It is an integrity concern if unlabelled drugs are found in the vicinity of racing stables,” he said.
The IIT is continuing its investigation.
