QRIC Media release: licensed trainer suspended
19 November 2024
The Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (‘QRIC’) has been advised that a licensed racehorse trainer has been arrested and charged by Queensland Police for criminal offences.
QRIC Commissioner Catherine Clark advised that the participant’s licence has been suspended immediately.
“QRIC’s role is to maintain the integrity of racing. Therefore, the trainer has been stood down from all further racing related activities, including attendance on racecourses, until further notice. Provision will be made for the horses in the care of the trainer to ensure their welfare. Any horse in which the person has an ownership interest, has also been stood down with immediate effect. Any ownership transfer will need to be approved by the Stewards,” she said.
QRIC is unable to make any further comment at this time.
QRIC has an obligation to uphold the Rules of Racing and, in doing so, acts to both preserve the integrity of the racing industry and safeguard the interests of participants.
