Notification of Harness driving tactics for multiple runners

Further to the Industry Notice published on 9 July 2018 outlining the repeal of the change of tactics rule, licensed persons are reminded of the requirement to notify Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) Stewards of dual or multiple runner tactics.

In accordance with AHRR238, QRIC requires all Harness Trainers with more than one runner in any race, to notify Stewards of their intended driving tactics for each runner in the first 400m of a race, by way of attendance at the Stewards’ Room on course.

The notification must be made verbally by the Trainer to the Stewards’ room no later than one (1) hour prior to the advertised start time of the race in which the horses are engaged to run.

Should a Trainer not be present at a race meeting, it is the responsibility of the licensed person in charge of the nominated horse to notify Stewards of the intended driving tactics of the dual or multiple runners in their charge.

Failure to comply with this requirement may result in a breach of AHRR238.

The driver and/or connections of a horse must make every effort to ensure the horse is driven in accordance with the notified tactics.  Failure to do so, may result in a breach of AHRR 147, 148 and/or 149.
