Jockey Luke Tarrant stay application successful at QCAT

Brisbane jockey Luke Tarrant was today successful in obtaining a Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) stay of proceedings in his appeal of a six month’s disqualification.

Mr Tarrant was disqualified for six months on 22 April 2020 after he pleaded guilty to misconduct under AR115(1)(a) after he was involved in a verbal and physical altercation with jockey Larry Cassidy in the vicinity of the scales area at Doomben race course on that day.

An Internal Review confirmed the Steward’s decision on 5 May 2020.

The Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) objected to the granting of the stay.

Mr Tarrant’s disqualification has been stayed until the outcome of his QCAT appeal and subject to him filing additional material with QCAT by 22 June 2020.
