Ipswich track work riders stood down

Two Ipswich track work riders have been stood down from riding after screening positive in preliminary testing to prohibited substances.

The Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) Integrity Investigations Team (IIT) conducted human sampling at Ipswich Turf Club track work yesterday following information that one of the riders had allegedly avoided IIT testing last week.

One track work rider screened positive to methamphetamine and amphetamine and a second rider tested last week screened positive to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

A further Ipswich track rider screened positive to opiates but was not stood down.

All three samples have been sent to a laboratory for confirmatory analysis and the stood down riders will remain stood down pending the results.

A female track work rider and two Trainers have also been referred to QRIC Stewards for alleged licensing breaches.
