Industry Notice: Warning regarding the use of MetaboLize feed supplement

The feed supplement MetaboLize has been linked to recent cases in Australia of caffeine detected in equine raceday samples.

Under the Rules of Racing, caffeine and its metabolites, Theophylline and Theobromine, are prohibited substances on race day.

The trainer and/or person(s) responsible for the horse may face disciplinary action in circumstances where the prohibited substance Rules of Racing are breached.

While the manufacturer of MetaboLize has advised that the product’s raw materials do not contain caffeine, they are investigating a possible contamination from a November 2024 production run.

Please be aware that certain batches of MetaboLize may contain levels of caffeine high enough to cause a positive sample.
