Horses scratched from harness race meeting after stable inspection

Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) Stewards scratched two standardbred horses from Saturday night’s Redcliffe harness race meeting following a no notice inspection at their stable.

The Commission’s Integrity Investigations Team (IIT) inspected the stables of Brisbane Trainer Brett Cargill when they allegedly found a needle and syringe.

Two horses set to run at the race meeting on Saturday night, 27 June were scratched.

Samples were taken from the horses and along with the seized needle and syringe will be sent for analysis.

Queensland Racing Integrity Commissioner Ross Barnett said Mr Cargill has denied any breaches of the rules of racing however, the Stewards acted swiftly to ensure the integrity of Saturday night’s races while investigations continue.

Wattlebank Flyer and Comigal and were scratched from Race 5 and Race 9 respectively.
