GAP greyhounds great global day out
The Queensland Racing Integrity Commission Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP) will take part in an international event on Sunday 19 September 2021 when it holds its second Great Global Greyhound walk.
The Great Global Greyhound Walk is a free annual sighthound walking event that aims to raise awareness of the sighthound breeds, which includes greyhounds, whippets, salukis and Irish wolfhounds.
The walk brings together thousands of fans of retired greyhounds across the globe. Originating in the UK, the world-wide event is now in its 11th year.
Acting Racing Integrity Commissioner Paul Brown said the walk will be great opportunity to further promote the benefits of retired racing greyhounds as pets.
“This will be a chance to meet other greyhound owners, our GAP staff and enjoy a walk by the water’s edge,” he said.
Greyhound owners and those interested in adopting or fostering a greyhound are invited to join the GAP team in Townsville or at Brighton on Sunday 19 September 2021.
The Townsville walk 8.30am – 10.30am at The Strand Townsville and the Brighton walk 10am – 12pm at the Decker Park, 18 Twenty-Fifth Avenue, Brighton.
The GAP team will also be available to provide advice on adopting and fostering a GAP greyhound, green collar assessments and greyhounds in general.
