Commissioner apologises for early running of Mackay race.

The Racing Integrity Commissioner wishes to apologise to anybody impacted by the early starting of Race 3 at a Mackay thoroughbred race meeting yesterday, 15 December.

The race which was scheduled to start at 1:10pm started at 1:07pm, three minutes before it was scheduled.

Queensland Racing Integrity Commissioner Ross Barnett said senior stewards were currently investigating the reasons for the early running of the race.

“While this is a very rare event QRIC Senior stewards will examine the circumstances around the early running of the race. We will find out if procedures need to change to ensure that incidents of this nature don’t occur in future,” Commissioner Barnett said.
