SAQ arena comes to fruition at Marburg showgrounds

A QRIC Racing Animal Welfare grant has resulted in the building of a 70m x 30m fully enclosed arena at their home ground at the Marburg showgrounds.

The Standardbred Association of Queensland (SAQ) committee worked tirelessly to co-ordinate and prepare the grounds for the arena panels.

After many months of work the arena panels were purchased, delivered to the grounds and the SAQ committee erected the arena.

The Committee employed the skills of a welder to weld all panels together to ensure structural stability and safety.

Sadly, towards the end of completion of the project was the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, however, the committee utilised the time to fine tune their home grounds in anticipation for the ease of restrictions and a return to their usual activities and events.

With restrictions easing, SAQ held its first event on Saturday 25th July, 2020.

SAQ has also announced a new date for its State Dressage Championships (previously postponed due to COVID restrictions) for 15th August 2020 to be held at our new grounds utilising the new arena.

SAQ is also working on dates for musters and clinics for the rest of the year.
