Track Arrival and Parade Procedures – QLD Summer Harness Carnival
21 November 2025
The Starlights Queensland Summer Harness Carnival will be conducted over four weekends from Friday, 15 November through to Saturday, 6 December. As a key feature of the harness racing calendar, QRIC Stewards issue the following important reminders for all participants engaged in these events.
Track Arrival Time for Feature Meetings
To maintain the highest standards of integrity, all horses engaged in feature races must be present in the stabling stalls area at least two hours prior to their scheduled race time. This early arrival arrangement ensures Veterinarians, Sample Collection Officers and other Officials have adequate opportunity to perform examinations, pre-race swabbing and attend to other necessary matters without delay.
Stewards emphasise that testing for prohibited substances will, as always, be rigorously undertaken throughout the carnival. This critical vigilance is essential to uphold the integrity of the sport and maintain public confidence.
Parading on Time and in Correct Order
Participants are also reminded of their obligations under the Australian Harness Racing Rules to:
- Arrive in the parade ring on time, in accordance with scheduled parade procedures.
- Parade in the correct numerical order as assigned.
Despite previous reminders, non-compliance with these rules and requirements continues to be observed. Stewards wish to advise that disregard of parade requirements may result in disciplinary action.
Commitment to Professional Standards
Maintaining professionalism in all aspects relating to race meetings, starting with punctuality and correct parade order, is fundamental to the ongoing sustainability of harness racing. These small but crucial actions contribute significantly to the sport’s reputation and presentation, especially during a major carnival.
Stewards and participants must work collaboratively to uphold the integrity and success of the sport for the benefit of all stakeholders and fans.
For any queries or further clarification, participants are encouraged to contact the Stewards directly.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to the highest standards.
