Remember to notify your stabling arrangements during the Constellations

The Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) is preparing to welcome interstate participants to Queensland for the harness racing Constellations Carnival.

QRIC Stewards remind participants to be aware of their horse traceability obligations while in Queensland.

If you are travelling from interstate, please ensure you notify QRIC Stewards on or before your arrival in Queensland of your stabling arrangements throughout the Constellations Carnival.

You can notify Stewards of your stabling arrangements by emailing: HarnessStewards@qric.qld.gov.au.

It is imperative that Stewards can locate you and your horses throughout the carnival in the event of a biosecurity issue or for compliance measures such as random or intelligence-led stable inspections.

Participants should also familiarise themselves with:

  • The Rules of Racing – especially regarding whip use.
  • Pre-race starting protocols – make sure you’re familiar with the pre-race circling order before racing.

You can review your obligations around whip use, starting and other rule requirements in the QRIC Harness Racing Penalty Guidelines on the QRIC website.

Breaches under the Rules of Racing may result in disciplinary action being taken.

QRIC’s Compliance Assurance Team (CAT) are always present at race meetings in Queensland and will be present throughout the Constellations Carnival.

Further, CAT Stewards conduct in and out of competition stable inspections and sampling, so please ensure your treatment records are up to date; non-compliance may lead to disciplinary action being taken.

QRIC has an anywhere, anytime sample collection strategy – sampling all race winners and undertaking random sampling throughout the Constellations Carnival.

If you have any questions about your obligations under the Rules of Racing in Queensland, please contact: HarnessStewards@qric.qld.gov.au.
