QRIC Media release: licensed jockey suspended

11 November 2024

The Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) has today suspended a jockey’s licence pending the outcome of an ongoing Queensland Police investigation.

The participant’s licence has been suspended under the powers of Australian Rule of Racing 23(a) until the court matter is finalised.

QRIC Acting Deputy Commissioner Kim Kelly said “One of QRIC’s critical responsibilities is to maintain the integrity of racing. Accordingly, the jockey is suspended from all activities related to thoroughbred racing until the court process is complete”, he said.

QRIC has an obligation to uphold the Rules of Racing and, in doing so, acts to preserve the integrity of the racing industry.
