QRIC Stewards Go Yellow for Queensland Road Safety Week
22 August, 2022
Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) Stewards overseeing the race meeting at the Mackay Turf Club this Tuesday, August 23 will wear yellow ribbons in recognition of Queensland Road Safety Week.
Queensland Road Safety Week runs from Monday, August 22 – Friday, August 26. It is an opportunity for all Queenslanders to make road safety the priority and positively contribute to safer roads for all.
Racing Integrity Commissioner Shane Gillard said this year’s theme, Road safety starts with me was particularly relevant to QRIC Stewards and race day officials in regional areas.
“QRIC Stewards and race day officials who work across the Mackay region spend a lot of time on the road. Sometimes, they are required to do a full day’s drive to reach their destination,” he said.
“At Tuesday’s race meeting, QRIC Stewards will wear yellow ribbons, the colour of road safety and positivity, to acknowledge the important role they play in keeping themselves and others safe on and near our roads.”
“We hope this will spark conversations amongst others at the meeting, about the role each of us plays in road safety.”
