Brisbane Harness Trainer disqualified for TC02 breach

Brisbane Harness Trainer Ricky Gordon will serve a six-month disqualification and face a $5000 fine after he was found guilty of administering an alkalising agent to a horse he trained on two race days.
Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) Stewards charged Mr Gordon with bringing Risky Buziness to race at Redcliffe on two occasions in August this year with an elevated TC02 level due to the administration of an alkalinising agent on both race days.
Stewards concluded an inquiry into the analysts finding which detected an elevated TC02 level in a pre-race sample taken from Risky Buziness prior to Mr Gordon presenting the horse to race on 23 August and presenting it to race above the prescribed TC02 level on 27 August.
Stewards said the Trainers’ six month disqualification and fine should serve as a deterrent to illustrate that race day administration of alkalising agents to elevated levels will not be tolerated and that the regulation by the Commission is of paramount importance to the integrity of harness racing.
Risky Buziness was also disqualified from the two races in question and placings amended accordingly.
