QRIC Racing Animal Welfare (RAW) 2020-21 grants now open
The Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) has launched its second Racing Animal Welfare (RAW) grants program today, 1 July 2020.
The Racing Animal Welfare grants program aims to support eligible organisations to promote and support the Commission’s animal welfare objectives including maximising the post-racing career opportunities for racing animals.
The Commission looks forward to seeing applications for new animal welfare projects to commence from January next year.
Racing Integrity Commissioner Ross Barnett said due to the COVID-19 pandemic an extension was provided to last year’s recipients of the 2019-20 RAW grants program to give them another 12 months to complete their projects.
“It was unfortunate that most of the events and projects from last year’s round of grants could not take place due to the pandemic, but we will see those come together in the next 12 months and at the same time we are offering this new round of grant funding,” he said.
“I will look forward to seeing the fruition of these projects along with new applications that eligible organisations have the opportunity to apply for until 31 August this year in three categories.
“Funding of up to $5000 is available per application. One project per application will be accepted and up to three separate applications will be permitted from any one eligible organisation.
“Applications will be invited from today until 31 August 2020 and they will be notified if they were successful in mid-November this year for projects to commence from 1 January 2021.”
More information, including guidelines and a link to the grants portal is available on the Commission’s website.
