Alligator Blood test confirmed

A post-race sample taken from thoroughbred gelding Alligator Blood after it won the Magic Millions Three Year Old Guineas at the Gold Coast on 11 January 2020, has been confirmed as the prohibited substance altrenogest.

Preliminary analysis of the post-race sample last month showed an irregularity to altrenogest and it has today been confirmed at an interstate laboratory.

Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) Stewards informed Sunshine Coast Trainer David Vandyke that he will now be subject to a QRIC Steward’s Inquiry.

Stewards have offered Mr Vandyke the opportunity to provide his submissions in writing or at a Steward’s Inquiry to be held via telephone or video conference on a date to be fixed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Commission is working to ensure the safety of participants and QRIC staff during the pandemic.
