Camira greyhound Trainer Anthony Hess disqualified for six years on prohibited substance charges
Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) stewards have today found Camira greyhound Trainer Anthony Hess guilty of six prohibited substance breaches of the Rules of Racing and disqualified him for six years.
The breaches relate to the presentation of two greyhounds he trained with prohibited substances in their systems when they raced in July and August 2018.
Analysts’ found that amphetamine, methamphetamine and pseudoephedrine were present in a sample collected from Bonknocka Lass when it placed 8th in race 2 at the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club on 5 July 2018, when it placed 1st in race 9 at the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club, on 2 August 2018 and when it placed 1st in race 11 at the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club on 9 August 2018.
Analysts’ also found amphetamine, methamphetamine and pseudoephedrine were present in a sample collected from Button Pusher when it placed 6th in race 3 at the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club on 2 August 2018.
Analysts found amphetamine, methamphetamine and pseudoephedrine were present in an out of competition sample collected from Button Pusher at Mr Hess’ registered kennels on 16 August 2018.
Analysts’ also found methamphetamine was present in syringes and tablets collected from Mr Hess’ registered kennels on 16 August 2018.
Stewards handed out a 12 month penalty for each breach to be served cumulatively, adding up to a six year licence disqualification.
Mr Hess was immediately suspended under the QRIC licensing standard on 3 October 2018 which stewards have accepted as time served and have backdated the disqualification period from 3 October 2018 until 2 October 2024.
