The Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) introduced a new veterinary certificate pro forma for both Thoroughbred and Harness racing from 1 November 2026.

The updated form has been developed to promote greater consistency, accuracy, and clarity in veterinary reporting and certification across the equine codes.

The new pro forma standardises how information is recorded, allowing Stewards, veterinarians, and other industry participants to more easily interpret veterinary clearance submissions.

From the commencement date, all veterinary clearance certifications for Thoroughbred and Harness racing horses should be provided using the approved QRIC Veterinary Certificate pro forma.

There will be a separate version of the document tailored to each code to capture the specific requirements relevant to Thoroughbred and Harness racing.

While the new form is available now, QRIC will phase in its use to give veterinarians time to transition.

During this interim period, Stewards will continue to accept the previous versions of veterinary clearance certificates. However, the expectation is that from 1 November 2026 the new form will be used.

Veterinarians seeking further details or guidance on completing the updated certification can contact the QRIC Veterinary Department on 1300 087 021 or via email at vets@qric.qld.gov.au.

This initiative reflects QRIC’s continued focus on consistency, transparency, and welfare standards across Queensland’s racing industry.
